What is Bildungsroman?

Bildungsroman is a kind of novel that tell's the formative years of the main character, in particular, the character's psychological development and moral education. The plot of that kind of novel typically begins with the protagonist experiencing a life-changing event, often a significant tragedy or loss, during their formative years. The bildungsroman usually ends on a positive note, with the protagonist's foolish mistakes and painful disappointments over, and a life of usefulness ahead. Authors within this genre mainly focus on the moral and/or spiritual growth that occurs during the protagonist's formative years. While "coming-of-age" is sometimes considered synonymous with bildungsroman, they are not entirely interchangeable.

Interview with Thomas Raahauge

In the corners of DevianArt, I found an incredible person who shared answers to my questions about his writing, his name is Thomas Raahauge.
He lives in the small Danish market town of Nakskov, you can find him in DevianArt as TigerEgern. This, he told me, means TigerSquirrel in Danish. TigerEgern was his chat name alias and chatsona, that he used in purely text-based chat forums, so in a way, it was also his fursona, though Furry-ism wasn't a thing in Denmark back then.

"I still don't have an actual fursona, but a fellow deviant designed my logo, which is a tiger-striped squirrel, muck akin to my chatsona, that was a squirrel with notoriously short attention span and a bubbly child-like behavior. At least according to a pair of university researchers, who worked on a paper on online chat forums and chatsonas. When sending private messages, however, I did not use my chatsona."
"I still maintain this distinction to some extent, though in a somewhat more mature way. I was in my early 20's when I was active on the chat forum, and am now in my 50's."

I asked him:  When did you start writing and why?

"I always enjoyed writing, but I had great problems staying focused. Four years ago, a cousin of mine performed a session of thought field therapy on me, and she helped me dislodge a mental blockade, that stemmed from my PTSD-like symptoms. After the session, I went home, slept for well over 12 hours, and the next morning, I promptly began writing (in Danish, of course). Within three months, I had completed a +400 pages fantasy novel, as well as a large body of poetry, short stories, and essays. I have been writing almost daily ever since."

What is a Dark Romance novel?

Dark romance novel is a sub-geenere of romance, exploring themes like dominance and submission in the relationship. This kind of literature often features taboos like non consensual sex, or violence to one another.

    This kind of novel may not be for everyone, some people may find them uncomfortable triggering some of the readers. Thats why is important to read the reviws of the book befor diving into the dark romance world. People describe characters in Dark Romance books as the broken, the breaking, and the doomed. While i was resarching for this article i've read that Dark Romance heroes are sometimes anti-heroes, characters who, on the surface, seem irredeemable, hateful or even evil.

    The characters change with the expirience overcoming the trauma and learn to love their situation.

What is a Chick-Lit novel?

Chick-lit novels are a type of fiction that is typically written by female authors, and centered around female protagonists. Some people say that the genre is marketed toward young women, but I think that this depends on the person.

     These novels include topics like family dramas, workplace struggles, issues of appearance and body image, and romantic entanglements with men.
There are cases where these novels are focused on comedy and drama, just like in chick-flick movies. Usually, the protagonists are described as strong, independent, assertive women. From the beginning of the story itself, the protagonist is usually working towards achieving something, and when the book comes to an end, this one is always happy. Even though these books are a success in commercial terms, the chick lit genere faces citicism for being trashy.

What is Urban Fiction?

Urban fiction is a genre of literature that features life on the streets. It is a genre that portrays city life with gritty realism, where the story's focus is on the life in the inner city, generally with a grim, dark tone. 

   Usually, it includes hard subjects such as drug use, gangs, sex, poverty, and violence. Although not all urban fiction takes place in the United States, the setting is usually a large American city. There is also urban fantasy, where vampires and monsters run in the city. Dark urban novels are a type of detective novel in which, more than the resolution of the crime per se, the most interesting thing is the portrayal of the moral ambiguity of the characters and the society in which they move. In crime novels, the line between good and evil is very blurred, and all the characters are somewhat decadent.
