 Interview with Mindy Killgrove

 Mindy Killgrove lives in  Orlando, Florida, with her husband and three children. "We like being in the vacation capital of the world because we can go to theme parks or the beaches any time we like. We also enjoy venturing out and watching live music and sporting events. So, we love our town."

As always, I asked her why she decided to write?
I decided to become a writer because the stories have always just built in my head, then flowed naturally. Often, I create conversations between my characters and that might be the place where I start writing a book.

What inspires your work?
My inspiration comes from so many different places, but most often, I like to write about things I know well. One of my most recent trilogies featured a young woman who lived for playing softball. Anybody who knew me when I was growing up will see a lot of my own attributes reflected in that character. I'm a serious sort, as is Kate Kellner, and I wanted to convey how for some, myself included, there's a time when sports and being an athlete is the most important thing in the world.

My eBooks are available through my website: www.mindykillgrove.com but they can also be purchased through Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. Some of my novels are also available as paperbacks, but those are exclusively found through Amazon.

Do you have a favorite writer?
My favorite author is Jane Austen, but I've also read a great deal of works by Agatha Christie and Gilbert Morris. I enjoy Austen's humor, Christie's characters with their wonderful idiosyncrasies, and the way Morris infuses his knowledge of the time period with his work.

Are you starting to write a new book in addition to the ones you have published?
The book I'm working on right now is entitled Majestically Married. It is the second book in the Kanedy Productions series. It follows the lives of the Kane siblings and this one features Jossalyn Kane.

Is there a book or poem that marked your life?
I think one of the books that changed my life was A Separate Peace by John Knowles. I still love it and recently re-read it, but it was one of those I recall reading in my youth and loving. Knowles captured the spirit of friendship and the way his characters would've behaved so well. I probably should review it every year because I adore the way he spins the tale so much.

I had the pleasure of being able to interview Mrs. Lydia Rodríguez Sánchez. A Spanish author from the province of Alicante. Lydia told me "During the time of adolescence and the first stage of youth, I liked to capture emotions, feelings. This hobby did not materialize, I mean that the written pages remained in drawers. 

    Due to work circumstances, I put this hobby aside. Retirement has given me enough time and maturity to be able to do what I was not able to do during my professional career. A year after the start of retirement, I felt the desire to write again. I started with short stories until, one day , I decided to write the short novel 'The Last Path'".

I asked her why she decided to write?
Well, as I mentioned, the desire was revived. I cannot conceive of having a passive attitude, on the contrary. Writing gives me vitality, horizon, goal. It makes me exercise my brain.

What inspires your work?
The environment, social issues, and nature.

On which internet pages do you share your work?
I use Instagram, Facebook, threads, goodreads. In the future I will surely join more networks.
I am also a member of the Objective Books Club.

Do you have a favorite writer?
Although there is more than one, I would highlight the French writer Jean Giono.

Are you starting to write a new book in addition to the ones you have published?
My second novel "That Autumn" is in the hands of a publisher for publication. I estimate that it will be published at the end of May.

Is there a book or poem that marked your life?
Yes. "Que ma joie demeure" by the aforementioned writer. For me it represents a song to life.

Is there any genre that you like the most?
Contemporary novel with a poetic touch and/or social themes.

Are you working on something now? Do you plan ahead your stories or do you sit and let your mind flow in the moment? (meaning are you a plotter or a pantser).
I am a mix between a planner and an improviser. I ripen the story in my mind. When I am clear about the central idea, the beginning and the end, then it is time to write. From that moment on, improvisation comes into play as the story progresses.

Interview with Thomas Raahauge

In the corners of DevianArt, I found an incredible person who shared answers to my questions about his writing, his name is Thomas Raahauge.
He lives in the small Danish market town of Nakskov, you can find him in DevianArt as TigerEgern. This, he told me, means TigerSquirrel in Danish. TigerEgern was his chat name alias and chatsona, that he used in purely text-based chat forums, so in a way, it was also his fursona, though Furry-ism wasn't a thing in Denmark back then.

"I still don't have an actual fursona, but a fellow deviant designed my logo, which is a tiger-striped squirrel, muck akin to my chatsona, that was a squirrel with notoriously short attention span and a bubbly child-like behavior. At least according to a pair of university researchers, who worked on a paper on online chat forums and chatsonas. When sending private messages, however, I did not use my chatsona."
"I still maintain this distinction to some extent, though in a somewhat more mature way. I was in my early 20's when I was active on the chat forum, and am now in my 50's."

I asked him:  When did you start writing and why?

"I always enjoyed writing, but I had great problems staying focused. Four years ago, a cousin of mine performed a session of thought field therapy on me, and she helped me dislodge a mental blockade, that stemmed from my PTSD-like symptoms. After the session, I went home, slept for well over 12 hours, and the next morning, I promptly began writing (in Danish, of course). Within three months, I had completed a +400 pages fantasy novel, as well as a large body of poetry, short stories, and essays. I have been writing almost daily ever since."
